At ANIKETANA, we believe in the power of organic farming to create a healthier, more sustainable world. Organic farming is not just about growing food without synthetic chemicals; it’s a holistic approach to agriculture that prioritizes the health of our planet, communities, and future generations.
Our Commitment to Organic Practices
We are dedicated to supporting and encouraging organic farming in Karnataka, a region known for its rich agricultural heritage and diverse ecosystems. Our initiatives focus on providing resources, training, and certification assistance to farmers looking to transition to or expand their organic practices.
ANIKETANA GNMSS served as a Service Provider under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) – Phase III, supporting farmers in the transition towards organic and sustainable agricultural practices.
The programme focused on farmer mobilisation, baseline surveys, formation of Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) groups, organic certification support, capacity building, field-level technical guidance and promotion of sustainable farming practices.
The programme covered three clusters:
| Cluster | District | Farmers | Area Covered | PGS Groups |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Channapatna | Bengaluru South | 563 | 500 ha | 25 |
| Pandavapura | Mandya | 681 | 480 ha | 24 |
| Mudigere | Chikkamagaluru | 863 | 943.2 ha | 47 |
| Total | — | 2,107 | 1,923.2 ha | 96 |
The overall programme mobilised 2,107 farmers across 68 villages, covering 1,923.2 hectares, and facilitated the formation of 96 PGS groups.
The programme went beyond awareness creation by supporting practical adoption of organic farming. Depending on the cluster, farmers received support such as biofertilizers, vermicompost units, beehive boxes, plastic drums, cow mats and other farm-level inputs. In Pandavapura, for example, 27 vermicompost units were established and 272 farmers received bio-fertilizer support.
In Mudigere, support included beehive boxes, drums, HDPE vermiculture units, vermiculture units and biofertilizers, reaching hundreds of participating farmers.
Location: Ramanagara and Bengaluru Rural Districts
ANIKETANA supports five farmer-led Organic Committees that promote organic farming practices in selected villages. The committees provide training, technical guidance, and awareness on organic cultivation while facilitating access to certification and market opportunities for organic produce.
ANIKETANA has promoted two Organic Farmer Producer Companies — Namdu Farmer Producer Company Limited in Chamarajanagara District and SHIVOAM Organic Farmer Producer Company Limited in Ramanagara District — to strengthen collective marketing and enhance the livelihoods of organic farmers.
These farmer-owned enterprises enable members to aggregate produce, access better markets, improve price realization, and promote sustainable organic farming practices through collective action.
To further support market access, ANIKETANA, through Namdu FPCL, has launched a Weekly Organic Santhe in Chamarajanagara, providing a dedicated platform for local farmers to directly market and sell their organic produce to consumers.
Through these initiatives, ANIKETANA continues to strengthen organic farming ecosystems and promote sustainable rural livelihoods.
